Visit of Dr. A.K. Singh, Deputy Director General (Agril. Extension & Horticulture) at KVK, ICAR-IISR, Lucknow
Dr. A.K.Singh, Dy. Director Director General (Agril. Extension & Horticulture), Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi was in Lucknow in connection with the participation of Noni Search – 2016 Conference held at ICAR-Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research, Lucknow. Speaking as Presidential address of the conference, Dr. Singh told the participants that products obtained from Noni plant boosts immune system in the human body for healthy life. He stressed upon to undertake extensive researches with respect to develop its production, protection, marketing and post-harvest technologies so that it could reach to the common man of the country for harvesting multifarious benefits. Dr. A.K.Singh then after visited Krishi Vigyan Kendra of ICAR-IISR, Lucknow and highly appreciated the works being done by the Kendra for the benefits of farmers in addition to demonstration units viz., mushroom production, nutrition garden, forage production, medicinal garden, seed production etc., established at the KVK for boosting the agricultural production. Later on, Dr. A.K.Singh stressed upon the need of establishing various demonstration units viz., planting of CISH developed latest varieties of fruit crops, drip irrigation and plastic mulching in garden and vegetable crops, preparation of value added products from fruit crops, bee-keeping at large scale, early maturing varieties of arhar, inclusion of food crops in nutritional garden etc. at KVK crop cafeteria, besides, developing leaflets on latest agricultural information to upgrade farmers’ knowledge so that the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s dream of doubling farmers’ income and generation of employment opportunities to rural youths could be realized in view of making our farmers socio-economically prosperous. On this occasion, Dr. A.D.Pathak, Director ICAR-IISR, Lucknow, Dr. B. Singh, Director, ICAR-IIVR Varanasi and Dr. U.S. Gautam, Director, ICAR-ATARI Kanpur besides, KVK Scientists were also present. Dr. S.N.Singh, Principal Scientist and Head, KVK organized the visit and proposed the vote of thanks.
